With Arizona being in pre-heat mode there are somethings you need to know about surviving the Arizona summer heat comfortably and safely! Update!!! It’s Here! Sigh, another hot hot summer is just getting warmed up (pun intended) These tips are even more important now!
Rule #1 Never never never leave anything alive in your car for even just a minute!!!
Choice parking is determined by shade, not proximity! When it’s 110+ every little bit helps
Water from the hose can be hot enough to scald your pets, your kids and even your plants. Make sure to let it run and test it on your hand before the water hits anything alive. I temp checked my hose water…128 Degrees… and it was only 104 out..
Having your car break down in the desert is not fun, having drinking water in your car is so important, either for yourself or your radiator! Even just going on a short trip we always pack a small cooler with water and sodas, a flat tire and no spare can leave you stranded for a long time if you’re out in the middle of nowhere, and there’s a lot of that in Arizona.
If you have yardwork or other chores to do outside, as soon as it’s light in the morning is the best time to get it done! It can be 100 degrees by 10am and won’t cool off until close to midnight, if at all…
With all the rain there are more things for small rodents to eat so there are more small rodents, which means there are more snakes, they will happily take a nap around your house so be sure to keep an eye out for them. Calling 911 will get a snake wrangler out to capture it for you, so please leave that to the experts!
Plan a retreat to some of Arizona’s high country! In Flagstaff they complain about the heat if it gets over 85! It’s only a short term solution but certainly a pleasant one.
Stay Hydrated! Drink more water than you think you need, especially if you’re out in the sun.
