Pretty much everyone knows the hottest temperature recorded in Phoenix was 122 degrees on June 26, 1990.

But the hottest temperature in the state was recorded at Lake Havasu when the thermometer got to 128 degrees on June 29, 1994.

And the coldest temperature ever recorded in Arizona was at Hawley Lake at 8,200 feet in the White Mountains. It got down to -40 degrees on Jan. 7, 1971.

Winter storms can cause it to snow down to 2000′ elevation levels, it’s pretty in the desert but it doesn’t last long.

In the northern part of the state, snow totals can be significant!

A nice long wet winter can set the stage for a superbloom. Look for a huge amount of flowers and greenery this spring!

Summer storms can create some beautiful skies throughout the state.

The summer monsoons can be awesome to watch.. from a safe place. Driving can be extremely hazardous and if you can stay put, they usually don’t last too long.

Summers in the desert is usually extremely hot and oven mitts do make pretty good driving gloves. While the summers can be brutal in the desert, winters are a balmy 65-75 degrees!
